Tackling household chores can sometimes be a hassle, but knowing how to maintain and replace tools properly can save you time and frustration in the long run.
One such tool is the hob scraper, an indispensable aid in keeping your kitchen surfaces clean and pristine. However, like any tool, its efficiency relies on the condition of its blade. We have a range of hob scraper replacement blades available here.
If you find yourself in need of a blade replacement, then we've got you covered with a simple step-by-step guide to effortlessly change your hob scraper blade.
In a rush? Here’s the TL;DR version:
- Push the button all the way up to reveal the blade.
- Slide the blade out of the holder to the left or right.
- Slide the replacement blade into the holder.
- Pull down the button to recess the blade.
For a more in-depth look, keep reading below. Also, it goes without saying the blades are sharp, so please be careful, and wear gloves if possible.
Step 1: Reveal the Blade
The scraper usually comes with 3 positions – blade fitting, scraping and closed. Usually when using the hob scraper, you will slide the button half-way to use the blade.
To remove the old blade, first slide the button all the way to the top into the ‘blade fitting’ position. This will slide forward the blade holder for you to access the blade.
Step 2: Remove the Blade
Carefully place your finger on either side of the blade and slowly slide it out to the left or the right. This may need a firm push if the scraper is new; if this is the case, then simply push the blade downwards on the edge of a solid surface (though not one you do not wish to scratch) to push the blade up and out of the holder. A wooden workbench or chopping board is perfect for this.
Step 3: Prepare your Replacement Blade
You may have purchased your replacement blades separately; if so, skip to step 4. However, if you have invested in an Ex-Pro hob scraper, you can use the included spare blades in the handle of the scraper.
Simply remove the bottom of the hob scraper by pulling on the black plastic loop and pull out the replacement blades (supplied in the cartridge).
Step 4: Replace the Blade
Once you have a replacement blade ready, carefully slide the blunt end of the blade into the holder from either the left or right side. Its best to carefully hold on to the bottom of the blade by the thicker metal to avoid any cuts.
Make sure both edges of the blade are perfectly aligned with the holder, then pull the button downwards, making sure the blade holder is fully recessed into the handle. Now the scraper is ready to use!
Conclusion
And there you have it – a quick and easy process to change the blade of your hob scraper, ensuring it remains as effective as ever in keeping your kitchen sparkling clean.
By following these straightforward steps, you'll spend less time wrestling with maintenance and more time enjoying the benefits of a well-kept home. So, the next time your hob scraper needs a little TLC, remember these simple instructions and breeze through the replacement process like a pro!
